server reboot

A server is rebooted and came up, but you dont know if its planned or unplanned , how to check about it ?

Figure out who did it and ask them.

Is there an entry in /etc/shutdownlog? How about /var/adm/syslog/OLDsyslog.log? Does this indicate a tidy shutdown or an unexpected stop?

hi,
you can check the crash dump area (/var/adm/crash).
Also last | grep reboot should give you some info on who/when the machine rebooted.

you can also verify your old syslog file for any errors that might have occurred prior to the shutdown:
/var/adm/syslog/OLDsyslog.log
