topic cleint request.... to primary server only in Operating System - HP-UX

I have got 2 sun solaris9 servers with web based application running. one is primary server,

and second one is a replica of the primary as a stand by server. whenever any changes are made

to primary, same is updated manually on second. Now what I need is that
all the web request from client always goes to primary server only. if primary server is

unavailable then only clients request goes to stand by server.
second requirement is that we need LAN failover too.

that means one active LAN and one stand by LAN. when active fails, stand by should take over.

Can someone let me know how to imlement this.I think solution will not be specific to solaris

only if some one knows how it can be implemented in HP-UX, that will be helpfull too.

Thanks,
Qamar

Shalom Qamar,

Where web requests goes is usually controlled by the DNS setup.

If you want all web requests for www.yourserver.net to go to primary server then set up DNS to direct all requests there.

You may need to look at your application setup to see how it writes such requesets.

SEP
