Creaging a volume group ....

Hi ..
i need to create a vg ... how can i do that?
after that
i need to create lv's ...how can i do that?
after that
i need to activate vg's and lv's .. how can i do that?

and after that
how can i mount all that lv's?

Hello Manuales.

For a VG you need a disk to create it in.

for an LV you need a VG to create it. and you need a mount point

for example if you are creating a lv named test, you would need to create a durectory called test first. and test would be your mount point.

all these can be done using SAM.

in the desk managment you can creat them all first the VG then LV and mount the LV with an execting folder .

Hi

First of all you create PV on the disk you need to create the VG using the following command
1.#pvcreate /dev/rdsk/cxtxdx (Where cxtxdx is u r disk)
2.then create a directory in the /dev with name of u r vg name.
#mkdir /dev/vg01
3.Then create vg on that disk
#vgcreate /dev/vg01 /dev/dsk/cxtxdx
4.Then create LV in VG
#lvcreate -L 2000 -n lvo1 /dev/vg01
5.Then make the filesystem on that lv
#newfs -F vxfs /dev/vg01/lvol1

Steps Given Below.
1.pvcreate /dev/rdsk/c2t0d0

2.ll /dev/*/group.

Find out the ununsed group number.

3.mkdir /dev/vg03

4.mknod /dev/vg03/group c 64 0x030000

5.vgcreate /dev/vg03 /dev/dsk/c2t0d0

6.lvcreate -n lv -L 3000 /dev/vg03

7.newfs -F vxfs /dev/vg03/rlv

8.mount /dev/vg03/lv /data.

Thas at all.

You can use "SAM" tool in order to make calmly all (create a VG and a LV).

Manuales,

Just a quick note:

1. Find the disk you want to use for the vg.
2. Create the LVM Header.
3. Create the group file.
4. Create the VG.
5. Create LV(s).
6. Create filesystem on the lv(s).
7. Mount it.
8. Permanently define mountpoint in /etc/fstab

Commands:
1. # ioscan -fnC disk [ select the disk you want to use.]
2. pvcreate /dev/rds/cxtxdx
3. cd /dev/ ; mkdir vg_name ; cd vg_name
mknod group c 64 0x010000
4. vgcreate -s /dev/vg_name /dev/dsk/cxtxdx

5. lvcreate -L size /dev/vg_name
6. mkfs -F vxfs /dev/vg_name/rlvoln
7. mkdir /mount_dir ; mount /dev/vg_name/lvoln /mount_dir
8. vi /etc/fstab ( Add the new entry.)
