Hi

We already have an 11.11 depots on a PA server. Is it possible and recommendable to use our current 11iv1 (11.11) SD repositories to maintain 11.23 patch depots?

I would say that you create a new repository for 11.23 depot. The good part is you will eliminate confusion for your team members or new arrivals that would use the 11.11 depot.

Bad (not that bad if you really think) part is that you maintain two depots.

My personal preference is to go for individual depot paths.

I know I'll create a separate repository - the question is, can that repository be on an 11.11 server?

Yes, the SD-UX tools can manage a depot even with 11.23 Itanium patches without any problems. You can also run SWA on an 11.11 system to analyze and build depots for 11.23 servers. Go to http://hp.com/go/swa for more info.

I agree with Anil. it's much better to keepthe repository for each OS. You can use swinstall to select which repository yuo would like to use.

SD doesn't care about the architecture the server is running on (must be _a_ hpux). it only checks the versions etc in the system where the depots are going to be installed.

Shalom,

We build all of our patch sets on an 11.00 system, using sd/ux. WE do this becasue this system has read/write access to all of our NFS and its the only one with enough space to manage all those patches.

We have built major complex patch sets on this system and succesfully installed them on 11.00, 11.11 and 11.23 sytstems, world wide.
