Guru's

I have a K420 (yeah I know ...) running 11.11 which also has not been patched in ages. The server is running Java RTE 1.4.2.02.01, which I guess has no support for the upcoming DST change. I'm unsure of which Java version I need to go to, which has the DST support, but will run on a K420. Does anyone have the answer to this? I find the http://www.hp.com/go/java site not all that useful.

Thanks in advance, Andy

You should not need to upgrade the Java.

Download the tzupdater utility from the above site and run it to update your Java's DST table.

Also from the same site:

In addition, a new time zone update tool (TZupdater) has been released, giving customers the most flexibility in updating any 1.4.2 and 5.0 JVM with current time zone information. TZupdater is available below.

Ok, now I'm getting more confused ....
On one hand only 1.4.2.11 (or later) supports DST, but others are indicating that one can just run the tzupdater tool (which I tried to run, but errors out in a CoreDump).

Andy

The easiest thing to do, if possible is to just complete update your version of Java. I have done that on almost all the machines I have.

However, if your application locked in to a specific version of Java and you can't update, then the tzupdater is the way to go. If it works, that is.
