I have had better luck with the cold install than an upgrade.

Seeing most of the replys are saying cold install, why not go to 11.23? It will run on a PARISC.

Hi:

In my opinion, a cold-installation always guarantees success. Begin here:

http://docs.hp.com/en/5991-6552/5991-6552.pdf

Regards!

...JRF...

I have used the update-ux script procedure for a number of boxes, and have not yet hit any issues.

I feel that if you cold-install, yes your O/S will be fine, but you could experience app issues if like I have seen apps installed into the O/S file systems and not segregated.

Regards,
Berd

1) Make sure you have a very good ignite image on tape. I had to go back because of a failed update-ux.

2) Make sure that the RockRidge patches are in place.

3) Make sure that you have enough space available in your filesystems. The upgrade document goes over how much space is required.

Do you have a lot of time to play with this server, or does this have a small window?

We ran update-ux on 2 N class servers with no issues, and ran update-ux with 2 failed attempts on our L1000, before we had a successful update. It came down to us exporting the RPC_SUPPORTED_NETADDRS=ip:x.x.x.x, then restarting the swagentd daemon.
