      <title>Assigned and Unassigned state for LUNS</title>

      <description>our system is connected with a clariion and while inq -clariion i am getting a out put like&lt;BR /&gt;some disks are assigned and some are unassigned.&lt;BR /&gt;Attached is the out put for inq -clariion and ioscan -fnC disk.&lt;BR /&gt;can someone tell me the reason.</description>

      <description>Maybe the UNASSIGN devices are alternate paths to the same LUN.</description>

      <description>You are right there are alternate paths but concern is we have 8 paths for each device and there are 32 devices. it makes 32*8=256 in total but i am getting 128 Assigned and 128 Unassigned. if it is showing the alternate paths as unassigned then it shoud be 32 Assigned and 224 as Unassigned.&lt;BR /&gt;please correct me if i am wrong.&lt;BR /&gt;it is showing as c12txdx 19 disks assigned and other or unassigned similarly c13txdx 13 Assigned and others or unassigned.&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>Hi,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Have you tried different configurations to test the stated theory? &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Given you have the primary links in place with a number of Alt paths, reduce them and the fail-over and then do status to see if it has changed.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;O'cause this is if you can take the machine offline.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Jov</description>
