They (nslookup, ping) all come back with the same ip address and when I do a nslookup on ip address, it comes back with the exact name of the remote host.

The problem happens alternatively, not intermittently. first asks for password, next it won't, again it does so on and so forth.

Thanks!
Ravi.
Hi All

One of the remote server has problem to connect my local server using remsh/rcp.

But the issue is that the problem is intermittent. Sometimes it is able to connect. But some times not able to connect, giving error 'remshd: Login incorrect.' After few hours the problem resovles itself

Anybody experienced the above problem? Any solution? I have already checked host name resolution, permissions. Checked nettl log, syslog etc. All okay

Thanks
Sajeesh
Hi Sajeesh,

What kind of name service you are using. Is the fully qualified domain name in the hosts file. If not, please add it and try again.

Also check with who -R after you logged in the destination system from the source system and compare the result in the hosts file.

Regards.

Hi,

It seems to me, you have a duplicate IP in your network. Can you disconnect the remote server and ping it from your local server ?
HTH
