Shalom Carmin,

I don't think you can connect a DDS tape drive to that card.

You should check the full server documentation at http://docs.hp.com

The drive specifications and installation procedures may be found there as well.

I've always connected my DDS drives to a scsi connector built into the system. Not all systems ahve such a connector.

What's the model number involved? What is the system type?

Hi Carmen

If your DDS drive is a C7438A or similar DDS drive you can indeed plug it into that card.

That card seems to come standard on rx2600 and rx4600 series servers and I am running the above models without any problems.

Some more info.

This card will support any LVD SCSI tape drive:

Current DDS part numbers supported are:
C5686C
C5687D
C7497C
Q1522B
Q1523B
Q1524C

Note that these drives are all Ultra 160 speed, so if you want to run any other devices on the same bus speed will be degraded to Ultra160.

Hi,
the /dev/mptx device file gets created only for ultra320 cards, not for other cards.
you can configure this cards with speed reqd as per your needs.
Check
# man mptconfig
For DDS, please check the support matrix with DDS product number.
