ok,

but i need the documentation speaking about this (the physical memory of VM Host need 4 Gb for use), or a HP note speaking about this.

Hi,

Server: rx6600
Physical Memory: 12 Gb
CPU:4
When i try to create the VM Guest, the VM host need 4 Gb memory. Is it True?

Can i modify this?

I would like 6 Gb for each VM guest.

Wait

Hi,

read the manual - there is a formula given for the host requirement of memory.
If you don't have enough memory - install more ;-)

For the memory status run

hpvmstatus -m

Be aware the host may require a bit more than showed.

Sorry, wrong command.
correct:

hpvmstatus -s

In your configuration you can give each guest 6Gb only, if there is only 1 guest running at a time.

Otherwise it is nearly
4GB (host) and 4GB for each guest.

Yes - you can assign less memory to the guests or install more memory to the server.

As mentioned before, read the version 2 manual - page 22 for the formula.

Please read also
http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/helptips.do?#28

"...
Sufficient physical memory (RAM), including the following:
â ¢ 750 MB + 7.5% of memory beyond the first GB (that is, 7.5% of (total physical
memory - 1 GB))
â ¢ Total aggregate memory required for each guest (operating system and application
requirements)
HP-UX 11i v2 May 2005 requires a minimum of 1 GB of memory, so a guest running
HP-UX must be configured with at least that much memory.
â ¢ Additional 7% of aggregate guest memory for overhead
For example, for a VM Host with 16 GB of memory and two VMs configured with
3GB of memory each, the memory requirements would be calculated as follows:
â ¢ 1.86 GB for the VM Host (750 MB plus 7.5% of 15 GB)
â ¢ 6.42 GB total guest requirement (107% of 6 GB)
â ¢ Total requirements = 8.28 GB of memory
This leaves 7.72 GB of memory for additional guests.
..."
