SAM - Printers and Plotters Listing

I'm using a B180L with HPUX-10.20 in SAM under Printers/Plotters>>LP Spooler>>Printers/Plotters I am receiving an error (Window Warning).... "An unexpected error has occurred retrieving information about printers configured on this system. Unable to display data about printer." SAM is not displaying a list of installed printers, therefore I cannot configure or modify using SAM. Can anyone direct me to where I can fix this problem? Thank you.

Hi Jim

what is the o/p of lpstat -t ?

U can find the list of printers by seeing the files in

/usr/spool/lp/interface directory.Please convey the o/p of

lpstat -t command.

I failed to mention that using the lp commands at the Unix prompt return the correct responses. But, I was trying to help other Sys Admins in my group that work primarily in SAM. Is there a limit to how many printers/plotters SAM can retrieve an display?

Hi Jim

Check for the following two files

/usr/sam/lbin/lpmgr and /usr/sam/lbin/lp_tcp_bootp

I have attached a listing of these two files from on of our production server so that you may compare with what you have. Hope it helps.

Thanks for the help, I have located the files which are located in the same place with the same file size/date. To no avail, I still can't get a printer listing even after restore/save printer configurations. SAM is not being user friendly.........
