LAN CONSOLE

I have an L2000 that has a lan console card. Has anyone used it before? The problem is, I am using Telalert for ITO notification paging and need to install a modem. However, I have only one serial card. This card currently has a 3 way cable attached to it, one for the console, one for a modem, one for UPS. But, telalert does not want to talk with the modem. I want to set up the lan console so I can run the modem directly to the serial card by itself. Any help appreciated.

Hi Robert,

Configuring the Lan console is pretty straight forward and very easy. I would have given you the link at the http://docs.hp.com but the site seems down, but look at the attachment. Should give you enough information to configure the LC

I have used the remote console port for the Modem I think the device file is tty0p1 and it works fine So please go ahead and do your stuff.

Robert,

The console connection and the modem port are more or less physically identical (a few pins are missing on the console connector). You do not win anything when you connect the modem to the console port. You better post more details about your problem with the modem and we see what we can do for you
