Hello all,
I am currently unable to login as root on my system. I logged into the remote consol and am getting this message
“file system of audit file had 0 free space left
An attempt to switch to the backup file failed
Must specify a backup file now!”

Is there a way to login into the system and resolve this?
Thanks in advance for all assistances.
Iqbal
Hi,

is this a hp-ux or a tru64 ux problem?
-> http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1154351 ??

What hardware, what os?
Have you tried to 'specify a backup file now!' in a non-root directory?
Do you know the directory structure of your system, so which logical volumes?

Have you tried to login in single user mode?

Volkmar
shalom,

1) From console, manually remove the audit files.

2) Redirect audit files to a new filesystem, other than root.

You will find more detailed instructions in this document:
http://docs.hp.com/en/B2355-90121/ch02s05.html

You may wish to turn auditing off until you can perform step #2

SEP
