The patch is PHSS_24044 s700-800 STM for CCLOGD fix.

Symptom : CCLOGD uses excessive CPU cycles, eats up 99.8% CPU

what happens is that cclogd creates a new /var/stm/logs/os/ccbootlog every time the system is rebooted or the file size reaches 750Kb. When the 11th file is being created, cclogd clears out the archived log files completely and get stuck in an endless loop. It also clears out all the ccbootlog.## files, which is what reveals itself. Hope this helps and is actually what you are seeing.

Good luck,
Chris

HP-UX 11.0, L class server: What does cclogd do? Some time after a reboot, cclogd goes from sleep to run (and stays there), and takes up excessive resources. I've seen some patches address problems with it, but none mention this symptom.

CPU TTY PID USERNAME PRI NI SIZE RES STATE TIME %WCPU %CPU COMMAND
0 ? 1483 root 204 10 80K 200K run 5556:14 99.45 99.27 cclogd

In addition to what I wrote, the others may be talking about a newer version than what I have.Alternatively, the June release of Online diagnostics was supposed to fix this.

Regards
Chris
