topic mail messages timeout in Operating System - HP-UX

mail messages timeout

The mail system on both server1 and serevr2 are deferring all mail messages because of a timeout. Please investigate and correct. The following is the message both systems are receiving.

Nov 28 13:35:26 serevr1 sendmail[14272]: AAA25086: to=pcmcpnl@[161.89.58.5], ctladdr=root (0/3), delay=4+13:30:25, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=esmtp, relay=[161.78.58.5], stat=Deferred: Connection timed out with [161.78.58.5]

Nov 28 13:46:16 server2 sendmail[10718]: AAA14444: to=pcmcpnl@[161.78.58.5], ctladdr=root (0/3), delay=4+13:41:15, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=esmtp, relay=[161.78.58.5], stat=Deferred: Connection timed out with [161.78.58.5]

I am getting thise erros..can anybody tell me what exacty we need to do to fix up this problem...And also wht this error means?

looks like that the server where you are mailing form is not allowed to mail.

Can you mail me the servername than I can look in to it...
ps on the 161.78.58.5 (nlxsms01) there are no problems whit resevong mail.

We have give the wrong ip from security point of view.

We just want to know the cause of above errors

you have changed the system name but not the adress you are sending to...

the cause is that the server where you are sending the mail from is not able to reatch the IP you are mailing to...

properly because sendmail is not configured normaly..

the mail was needed for tsu performance measurements, please contact 4 line if this mail is still needed and if not you can hash of /appl/tsu/cur/utils/Perf.digest in the TSU crontab....

Sendmail is trying to connect to [161.78.58.5] (or whatever the real IP address is) and it is failing. You need to determine what the connection to that server is timing out.

Well, it means the connection to 161.78.58.5 timed out for some reason.
