There have been some requests to preview this change. The only option that will impact the reports is "-m". The equivalent commands going forward are:

security_patch_check -> swa report

security_patch_check -m ->
swa report -r spc-m

The latest versions of SWA and SPC are available via https://www.hp.com/go/swa. For information on the range of SWA options consult the swa-report(1M) man page at http://docs.hp.com/en/B3921-60631/swa-report.1M.html

This is an announcement of security_patch_check(1M) obsolescence in 2009. The Software Assistant utility and catalog replace and expand the capabilities provided by security_patch_check and can be obtained at no cost from https://www.hp.com/go/swa.

The next release of security_patch_check will initially use the security_catalog and provide full legacy support. On November 1st, 2008 this version of security_patch_check will begin invoking Software Assistant. "security_patch_check -m"
will continue to support the old report format by translating into an equivalent swa-report(1M) command.

On a date after November 1st, 2008 the catalog file required for older versions of security_patch_check will no longer be available. All users should plan on converting to swa(1M) before this date.
