But the real question is - when do Applications stop supporting 11.11?

Example - we are migrating to Itanium (which is 11.23 or higher) and for example, SAP MDM is only supported on 11.31 on Itanium (and 11.11 parisc) and all new modules from SAP are only being released on 11.31 Itanium.

Geoff makes a valid point, BUT the inverse question is equally true. There are certainly large numbers of applications (and vendors) that are slow to certify their products on current releases. This leaves a vast pool of old, out-of-support operating systems that must be kept running beyond what one might like!

the last 2 days I saw 2 questions about 10.20...
