You can use swlist:
swlist -l fileset *.VXFS-BASE-KRN

Then pick the biggest patch ID, probably last one.
NOTE: PHKL_32669 has a critical warning on it, you do not want it. This is fixed in PHKL_34665 or PHKL_34805.

I have been asked to install PHKL_32669 onto one of my 11i servers but when I attempt to do so its failing with the following error message:-

The patch fileset "PHKL_32669.VXFS-BASE-KRN,r=1.0" is superseded by another patch fileset that is already installed on the target"

Is there a way I can find out which patch has superseded this?

Excellent responses from all!!!

It appears that we have got PHKL_34665 installed on our server, so we are one off the latest one according to the family tree.

The reason for this question is that we have a server in the States which has PHKL_32669 and our product is working fine. But here in London we have the newer version of this patch and the software does not work. Any advice on how to proceed?

They have already asked me to remove PHKL_34665 and replace it with PHKL_32669, this I have said no way to as this would be a very bad idea indeed, would you agree?

But here in London we have the newer version of this patch and the software does not work. Any advice on how to proceed?

How does it fail? Anything related to VXFS?
You could contact the Response Center.

>They have already asked me to remove PHKL_34665 and replace it with PHKL_32669, this I have said no way to as this would be a very bad idea indeed, would you agree?

It depends. Is this a test machine where you can try removing it?
Make sure you have them read the text in the patch warning so they understand the importance. Also look at everything that was fixed to see if that possibly broke your application? Both intentionally and unintentionally.

You already know PHKL_34665 is replaced by PHKL_34805 - read the patch details!

IMHO I would never remove a patch ;-)
