topic How to collect data on server utilization in Operating System - HP-UX

Hi,

I am wondering if somebody can help with an idea on:

How to collect data on number of users used a HPUX server over a period of time (maybe daily)?

Whether they login (pts, dterm, ftp ..) or maybe just run remote rexec?

I was looking in wtmp (and last command) but the time stamp does not include year, and because log file rotation is not implemented there might be multiple entries for particular month?

How about create a script that executes "who " at your schedule every hour and creates your own log file in the format you would like.

It might work, partially ss per who manpage:

who - who is on the system

meaning that cronjob (say hourly) will create a report of usage at a particular moment?

But not how many, if any user actually logged in?

The most useful option (for my purposes) would be -a
who -a
Processes /etc/utmp or the named file with all

options turned on.
