full os backup

Hi,

OS : HP-UX 11i
Database : Oracle 10g (10.2.0.1)
RAC is implemented

I am an Oracle DBA and want to know how can i take full os backup and what should be the strategy to do this task.

hi ;

if ignite installed then ignite is the best option,

/opt/ignite/bin/make_tape_recovery -x inc_entire=vg00 -I -v -a /dev/rmt/0mn

check your ignite. depends on your server utility
generally, you can try this out either these 2 depends on your server utility
1.
# ioscan -funC tape
# mt -f /dev/rmt/0mnb status
# make_recovery -AC -d /dev/rmt/0mn
choose the 0mn - no rewind
2.
# ioscan -funC tape
# ./make_tape_recovery -I -v -x inc_entire=vg00 -a /dev/rmt/0mn

Hi,

if there is no tape drive available, consider using Ignite's make_net_recovery (man make_net_recovery). You'll have to use 2 servers for this purpose - one being an Ignite Server and another for Ignite Client. You will then store the OS Client backup on the Ignite Server.
