unable to telnet

Hi,

I am in the process of changing the root password for my HP-UX Servers. But once i change it, i am unable to connect to server via telnet.

But i can login via ssh. Again, if i change back to old password, i am able to telnet again!

So what could be the problem??

Hi

Did you putted @ or # sign in your password?

This wont work in telnet environment.

Isn't that an "stty" problem, not a Telnet
problem?

Thank You! But can anyone give a complete list of the special characters that doesn't support the HP-UX environment (in specific, the telnet)

I think just # and @. Also control ] to get out of telnet.

In my experience I have found it best to restrict passwords to numbers and lower and upper case letters.

Password Example: 179MeatMkt

Passowrd Example2: jumpAlpha2

Password Example3: 4NetCon2

Using numbers and mixed case letters make it a great harder to crack the password.
