I really hate to disagree with Stephen....but...I believe that for network changes, IP changes, timing parameters, & lock disk changes and the like require the cluster to be down. Especially for that version of SG.

Rgrds,
Rita

Hi All ,

I am having a 2 node cluster .I was trying to extend one of the filesystems in the cluster and i found the PE size is 4 MB and because of that i am not able to extend the filesystem as it crossess the maximum LE of 65535 . Now i need to recreate the VG , but that particular VG is the cluster Lock VG and i am trying to explore the steps to recreate the cluster lock VG without affecting the cluster . I can get the downtime for the cluster.

OS Version - HP-UX 11.11
Service Guard Version - A.11.13

Any information on this above situation is higly appreciated.

Regards
Arun

Shalom,

Create a new logical volume or simply point the cluster configuration at an existing, available logical volume.

Remember cluster lock doesn't actually need disk space.

Then

cmquerycl/cmcheckconf/cmapplyconf

Then you should be back in business.

Might want to try upgrading SG while you are at it. Your version is pretty old.

SEP

Well, as the cluster lock is marked in the BBR of the physical disk/LUN, there should be nothing to really change.
Recreating the VG is rather a heavy task, you may want to log a call with the local HP Response Centre and ask for a copy of the unsupported tool called vgmodify ( I think there is a version for 11.11) and see if this wil help you before you go having to vgexport, recreate etc.
As long as the PV and VG name does not change, you should not have to reapply the binary

Of course, if vgmodify is unable to help you, then you will need to recreate the VG
