ulimit issues

Hi,
We are unable to set the nofile parameter value to 65536
the command
ulimit -n 65536 sets it for root but not for other users.
After we set this parameter for root and switch to other users the value takes effect.

Setting the value in /etc/profile is also not working for other users except root.

This is very urgent since we have other installations scheduled.

What is your kernel parameter value of nfile?

nfile 65536 Default Auto

for other users setting put this in users .profile file.
