i have an rx4640 server with hpux 11.23 installed . The problem is that the CDE won't start on the local KVM connected to the vga adapter of the server. The service is running fine and it runs through exceed smoothly.
I check the /.dt/startlog and /.dt/errorlog after running /usr/dt/bin/Xsession and /usr/dt/bin/dtsession and they indicated errors on the display name. although the DISPLAY variable is set to hostname:0.0
What am i supposed to do now?

Shalom,

/sbin/init.d/xfs start

XFS is the X font server daemon and it does not auto start in HP-UX install.

To set auto start vi /etc/rc.config.d/xfs

Set the first variable to 1.

Note also, the default behavior of HP-UX 11.31 install is to not even install CDE.

SEP
