Hello fellow admins I have a weird problem and I am not quite sure how to go and fix it.

I have a Single Ended HP SCSI card in a K570. When I run an ioscan -fnH 10/4/4 I see the device. When I run an ioscan -fn I see the device. When I run an ioscan -fun I do not see it as well as when I run an ioscan -funH and the hardware path. I know the (u) option is to show usable devices but there is nothing else on the bus. Any suggestions?

We use lots of SE SCSI cards in K series and I just checked a few of them using the ioscan u option, and they dont show up either ! but were using all ours for disks and tapes and they work fine. I dont think you should worry about it not showing up with the u option.
The devices that have an instance number alloted will be shown with -u option. So, if the card is just there, I do not think it will be shown in the ioscan -fun. Try connecting a disk system and see.

-Sri

The "u" option under "man" defines "u" as thus: Usable I/O devices are those having a driver in the kernel and an assigned instance number.

Can you please post a few small examples, i.e. both good and 'bad' ones, including the options/parameters used?

Can you access the device with diskinfo(1M), assuming that it is a disk (You did not specify the type of device)?
