Logged into a system with ~ 1500 proc count, noticed a ton of STM/CSTM procs working. Shut down the diagnostic daemon, gave it a few min to gracefully kill all the procs, and then restarted the daemon. Proc count dropped to ~ 1000. Any idea why there were so many? Any logging that would give me a clue?

rp8420, hpux 11.23

Thanks!

500 diagnostics related processes are very unlikely. Check the logs for related activity and update the diags if needed.

Using xstm or mstm you will easily find the activity logs - have a look at them.
