    <description>Since you didn't mention the TYPE of disk array, here are the general steps to follow:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;1) Determine what file systems are on the disk array&lt;BR /&gt;2) Determine what applications use those file systems&lt;BR /&gt;3) Shutdown those applications&lt;BR /&gt;4) Unmount those file systems&lt;BR /&gt;5) Deactivate the volume groups that house the logical volumes for those file systems&lt;BR /&gt;6) Shut down the disk array with the appropriate commands.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;When power is restored:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;1) Power up the disk array&lt;BR /&gt;2) Run an ioscan to verify the disks are visible (ie. everything is CLAIMED and not NO_HW)&lt;BR /&gt;3) Activate the VGs&lt;BR /&gt;4) Mount the file systems&lt;BR /&gt;5) start your applications</description>

      <description>Hello All,&lt;BR /&gt;I have a hp server and has external disk array.Looks likem for maintenance ..the disk array power source will be down for a while . I would like to know what steps i need to follow to bring the disk array power down / up safely. I do not want the data to be corrupted on that drives if power goes down.&lt;BR /&gt;please advice&lt;BR /&gt;thanks</description>

      <description>Thanks much.&lt;BR /&gt;As an alternative..can the system be shutdown and power down the diskarray and vice versa to power up .&lt;BR /&gt;thanks so much</description>

      <description>Hi Navin,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;It is safer to shutdown servers after taking required approval and then proceed for the power shutdown of array.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If no data access request will be there then no chance of data corruption due to sudden power failure.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;regds....DK</description>
