hello,

i issued a shutdown -ry command and it asked me to select one reason for the shutdown. it brought out about 15 options for me to choose from. It does not do that before.

Are you on your own box or has a previous SA wrote a wrapper script for shutdown?

Hi,

Try

#cd /
#shutdown -ry 0

what you get when type:

whereis shutdown or which shutdown

If somebody customized the shutdown/reboot in your setup then you will get options depending on what is defined n script.

I guess a script was customised for shutdown. How do i do that for the other servers?

Like Kumar said - "which shutdown" should show you the location of the edited script.

Copy this to the other servers.

Yes,

You can copy the same script to other servers at same location.

Do Follwoing:

## Rename the default shutdown file
## make a ftp /sftp to get the required file here.
