Things in&lt;BR /&gt;a user's "~/.profile" are done when that user&lt;BR /&gt;logs in (or starts a shell in some other&lt;BR /&gt;way).  Which one is better depends on what&lt;BR /&gt;you want done when (and/or by whom -- "root"&lt;BR /&gt;or some normal user).&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;      man init&lt;BR /&gt;      man profile</description>

      <description>Hello,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Just a quick one because I want some recommendations about this .&lt;BR /&gt;I want to add a startup script but the process to perform this is quite big a complex, is there a better way to add a startup script to this hp-ux box ? maybe a .profile line or something.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Best regards,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Marc'0</description>
