I have recently installed a HP printer in a hp-ux server and it went well.

Now i am trying to install the same printer , with a different model being selected. But the hppi program automatically recogonizes the printer model and directing me to the last step of print queue name definition.

How to go about this ?? Please help..

can you ping cam2505? unless it is defined in dns (or hosts file), you would want to use the ip address of the printer.

If you simply wish to change the printer driver then simply:

cp mynewdriver /etc/lp/interface/model.orig/myprinter

> /opt/hpnpl/bin/addqueue -i 19 -b off -q cam2505 -h cam2505
Printer not supported
------------

You need to get the correct printer script.

> printer is a HP color LJ c3505. I am trying to install this as hp ljj 5si ( 19 )

Not a good idea at all. The 5Si has been obsolete for a decade and there is no reason to assume that there is any compatibility other than ASCII. Download the correct printer script from here:

http://www.hp.com/pond/modelscripts/index2.html

Now addqueue (and hppi) will recognize the new printer. NOTE: HP has made hundreds of different printer models and many are completely incompatible with HP-UX. Do not pick a new printer for HP-UX until you find the printer script in the above website. HP almost never states compatibility with HP-UX for any printers, only Windows and sometimes Macs.
