actually you can monitor the raw file system usage from the application which its using.

but from sam you can view the lvol usage. go to sam and disk and file system and select logical volumes.

As far as i know raw filesystem is not mounted. It is mainly use for database.
The only way to see utilization from unix side(space free in vg) is "vgdisplay vgname" . From oracle or database side u can see the table space utilization which s the best method to check wether allocated space to LV is totally used or not.

for normal filesystem (vxfs, HFS) u cab use "bdf" command.

Hi,
Think from BASICS.
First we are creating vg groups one or more.
this is the total difined or Total actual sapce.
Now inside the vg's we are creating FileSystem.

So we can count remaining available space for new FS of modifying existing FS.

You may use this.

AS A SINGLE COMMAND I AM WORKING ON IT. IF WILL GET SOLUTION I WILL ANS.
**BUT As a solution you have two options.

Regards,
Gokul Chandola

"vgdisplay vgname" is only displays the number of space allocated in the lvol. not the usage.

its only shown from the application, i.e. oracle, informix etc. etc.

Shalom

The summary here is there is really no single way to display raw disk usage. One must use the utilities that are provided with the application that owns and uses the raw disk area.

sqlplus for oracle etcetera.

SEP
