HP-UX and FRU/VPD information

Hi,

Does latest version of HP-UX i.e. 11.31 provide FRU/VPD information of the components installed/integrated on a 9000 or Integrity system by some way?

I am trying to see if there any such stuff similarly provided by Sun systems through OS commands prtfru and through system controllers

Hi rccmum,

I don't know the command you are referring to, so I can't compare.

The online diagnostics (stm) will provide a lot of fru specific information (even in older hp-ux versions). In addition some HBA related commands will provide VPD related data, for example fcmsutil (fibre), sautil (smartarray) and mptutil (scsi).

Hi:

It's always appropriate to define acronyms when first used in a sentence.

I assume that :

FRU = Field Replacable Unit

VPD = Vital Product Data

Given assumptions like this, I agree with Torsten that 'cstm' would be helpful along with:
