      <title>CIFS upgrade to new</title>

      <description>Right now I have the HPUX server with the version B.11.11 , currently installed CIFS&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;CIFS-Client                   A.01.08        HP CIFS/9000 Client&lt;BR /&gt;  CIFS-Development              A.01.08        CIFS/9000 server source code files&lt;BR /&gt;  CIFS-Server                   A.01.08        CIFS/9000 (Samba) File and Print Services&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I want to go for the new version of CIFS(both client &amp;amp; server ) , let me know the latest version which my unix version support and the link were i found the details , also let me know what needs to do to preserve the existing CIFS settings &amp;amp; configuration !! , will the existing setup will work once upgraded to new version or need to configure again....</description>

      <description>Hi,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;from below url you can download cifs server and client depot.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;A href="http://h20392.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/searchProducts.do" target="_blank"&gt;http://h20392.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/searchProducts.do&lt;/A&gt; &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;in search enter cifs &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Normal upgrading  should not affect current config setting however you can always keep the backup copy of smb.conf&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Regards,&lt;BR /&gt;Javed Khan&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>Hi,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;You can upgrade the server and client online.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;But for safer side take backup of smb.conf file and stop the services during upgrade.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;CIFS Server won't require reboot whereas client need reboot of the server.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>Shalom,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Best practice is to remove the old version with swremove and swinstall the new.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;With CIFS I've been able to get away frequently with bypassing that first step.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Some new features in smb.conf but as I recall the old configuration file was compatible with the new.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;SEP</description>
