swinstall problem in installing OS-Core.CORE2-KRN

Hi,

I'm trying to install OS-Core.CORE2-KRN in an alternate root on an HPIA 64 machine. I was able to install OS-Core.CORE-KRN but am getting the following error while install OS-Core.CORE2-KRN:

$ swinstall -s /HPmedia/BASIC/11.23IA/11.23IA_Sept2007_DVD1/ -r -X .swopts OS-Core.CORE2-KRN,r=B.11.23,a=HP-UX_B.11.23_IA/PA,v=HP,fr=B.11.23,fa=HP-UX_B.11.23_IA

I'm using the following swinstall options in .swopts:

swinstall.admin_directory=/tmp/test/var/adm/sw
swinstall.mount_all_filesystems=false
swinstall.logfile=/tmp/test/var/adm/sw/swinstall.log
swinstall.targets=/tmp/test/
swinstall.loglevel=2
swinstall.reinstall=true
swinstall.reinstall_files=true
swinstall.logdetail=true
swinstall.register_new_root=false
swinstall.enforce_scripts=false
swinstall.autoselect_dependencies=false
swinstall.enforce_dependencies=false

swinstall.log is showing the same error message. Since I'm installing in an alternate root, I'm fine with warnings of failing dependencies as long as swverify can verify that the fileset has indeed been installed on the target alternate root.

What could be the reason for this failure? I was able to install most of the core OS packages (albeit with warnings) except OS-Core.CORE2-KRN.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Why are you trying to do this? You are going to have no end of problems. You are going to get a random mixture of PA and IPF bits.

Though your r=B.11.23 option is how to select specific versions. The problem is that the dependencies don't have specifics.

So as I mentioned is the following thread, the foolproof way to do this is copy the depot and remove all PA only filesets. Then install.

Don't use -r, it's obsolete.
Leave out of .swopts:
swinstall.targets=/tmp/test/
swinstall.admin_directory=/tmp/test/var/adm/sw
swinstall.logfile=/tmp/test/var/adm/sw/swinstall.log
and put on the end of the command line: @ /tmp/test

I copied the depot at a new location and removed all PA filesets. This is how it looked like:

After modifying the other options as you suggested, I'm still getting the same error:

You haven't answered "why" yet.

You may have to start all over with a full depot and remove what you have in the alternate root.

You probably should remove these:
swinstall.autoselect_dependencies=false
swinstall.enforce_dependencies=false
