In reference to a recent security bulletin, I comented out the rpc.ttdbserverd entry in my /etc/inetd.conf and forced a re-read of the file. Since then I have rebooted and am unable to interact with the terminal, even in single user mode. Has anyone lese had this problem. I am running 11.0.

When you say terminal, you mean the console on the server? If so, what kind of server and console?

It doesn't sound like the 2 are related. That is if you are referring that you can see anything on your console. init.d would not yet be running and this service is only used if you're using CDE sessions.
Are you getting anything at all on your console?

I believe the rpc.ttdbserverd is used mainly (exclusively) by CDE. If you don't need CDE than you should be able to safely disable this daemon.

As for not being able to use your terminal, are you using a workstation? If so, then you will not be able to use CDE.

How are you trying to log into the system?

-Santosh

I am attempting to connect through a web browser through a secure web connection. I get a regular command line terminal screen but it will not respond to any keyboard entries. Hope this helps.

ttdbserverd has nothing to do with Secure Web Consoles. The server knows knowing of the Secure Web Console, so the twio are not related.

From your SWC, does your server respond to a ctrl-b?

harry

live free or die

I just connected the server to a local terminal to see if there was any change in the situation. There was no change.

How about moving that console and cable to another server just to verify that they work. If they do, then you have some sort of hardware issue with the serial port.
What kind of server is it??
