I have a problem because we don't know the console login and password. The servers sit in another country and we don't have anyone on site to help us. Is there a way to reset the console login and password through HP-UX. The servers in question are L3000 servers. Thank you for your help in advance.

Hi Donald,

unfortunately you are a bit lost.

You need to have someone sitting on the local console.

From the local console on this type of server you can logon without user/password.

If everything is default, you have admin rights then.

Check LAn config with

GSP> ls
or configure with
GSP> lc

You can force a reset of user passwords from hp-ux, but you still need somebody on the local keyboard to confirm the reset by pressing "p" ...
(Y/[N]) y
All GSP passwords and user information is cleared.
GSP LAN and remote accesses are also disabled.

Type Ctrl-B to activate the GSP Command Interface.

SP reset succeeded.
