fbackup/frecover are HP-UX's built-in backup and restore utilities. They are quite powerful and can use disks and tapes. They are good for backing up the same server they are running on and do have some options with piping to other commands to use remote tape devices. They are not meant to be an enterprise backup system. Go to docs.hp.com and search for fbackup, you will find a lot of documents. Also in this forum many hits as well.

HI:

Be aware that in some release after 11.31 it will not be possible to make new archives with 'fbackup'. Both 'fbackup and 'frecover' are deprecated beginning at 11.31. You are advised to use 'pax' as the replacement strategy.

Regards!

...JRF...
