Hi:

With regard to #1 (hardware compatibility) see:

http://www.docs.hp.com/en/5992-1978/ch02s03.html

The Installation and Update guides for any release always include this chapter/section.

With regard to #2, as Dennis notes, the manpages for ARIES offer good information:

http://www.docs.hp.com/en/B3921-60631/ARIES.5.html

With regard to #3: Logic dictates that you can't anticipate the future, but you can build on the past. Hence as Dennis said, you can build on 11.11 and run on 11.23 but should not expect the inverse to work.

Regards!

...JRF...

I have some old PA-Risc h/w, L, N and A class servers.

1) Can anyone provide a link for h/w compatibility for v2?

2) I am interested in running the Aries emulations mode on the newer Integrity server to run some older HP-UX v1 apps. Where can I find more info on this. Is there a download link where I can download the translator for free?

3) Can I built apps on 11.11 and run on 11.23 and vice versa?

Thx in advance.

>2) Where can I find more info on this. Is there a download link

You can look at aries(5) or: http://www.hp.com/go/aries
Aries is installed on all Integrity HP-UX systems but you may want/need newer patches.

>3) Can I build apps on 11.11 and run on 11.23 and vice versa?

You can only move forward, build on 11.11, run on 11.23.

Hi,

1)See this link for supported systems (native support dependant upon the v2 release you have):
http://docs.hp.com/en/5991-5535/ch04s07.html

2) Maybe this will help:
http://h21007.www2.hp.com/portal/site/dspp/menuitem.863c3e4cbcdc3f3515b49c108973a801/?ciid=f6ccb52bdb779110VgnVCM100000275d6e10RCRD

3) See this link for more info:
http://docs.hp.com/en/5991-5535/ch02s07.html#bgbdidgb

HTH,

>JRF: Logic dictates that you can't anticipate the future, but you can build on the past.

Actually it is more related to money, not wizardry. :-)
In the case of HP-UX, the money is spent on forward compatibility.

In the future, you know what happened in the past. So one could have a compile mode that duplicated the past exactly.

There is SDK but there is no official support:
http://h21007.www2.hp.com/portal/site/dspp/menuitem.863c3e4cbcdc3f3515b49c108973a801?ciid=e2086d6e1de021106d6e1de02110275d6e10RCRD
