Hi All,

I'm attempting to to run make_sys_image to archive the image to my ignite server. I added the hostname of the golden image server to the /.rhosts and uncommnted the shell line in /etc/inetd.conf file on the ignite server commented /etc/inetd.conf on the Ignite server and run "inetd -c". but I still get.......

* Preparing to create a system archive.
* Testing for necessary pax patch.
ERROR: Cannot remsh server 192.168.2.100(check server .rhosts file).

IMPORTANT: If an error similar to the following appears:

ERROR: Cannot remsh server system_name (check server .rhosts file).

You must add the name of the client to the /.rhosts file on your Ignite-UX server as in the following example entry:

system_name root

its easier to check rlogin between the servers than keep testing make_sys_image.

what happens when you type:
rlogin ignite_server[return]
as root from the client

and back the other way too. If you are prompted for passwords there is still a problem.

>>> I added the hostname of the golden image server to the /.rhosts

As orange said, you also need to add the hostname of client to the .rhosts on the ignite server.

Shalom,

Carefully check the configuration of the inetd.conf file on the target system.

As a precaution you might wish to restart inetd

You may want to check basic network functionality on the systems, make sure ping works.

The Ignite server might need an inetd restart as well as the mini dhcp server that runs on an Ignite server may be hung or all addresses are allocated.

SEP
