Shalom,

PHKL_31500 is a LITS, Line in the Sand patch. It can not be installed twice.

I once did this on an 11.00 system and had similar results. I managed to save the system by removing patches and reinstalling them.

It was painful and there were problems after that. HP's recommendation was that I reinstall the OS.

SEP

Short version,

If you were on a pre 0409 11.23 system then there was a risk of a panic during the kernel build. The 0409 update that brought support for PA-RISC to 11.23 was so big that we really didn't want that to happen. That 0408 BUNDLE11i simply had the fix to that problem.

You can find that smallish bundle at ftp://ftp.itrc.hp.com/patch_bundles/hp-ux/SPECIAL/

Hi (again):

> can we install AUG04 bundle without installing sep04 bundle ?

Did you *read* the document I cited in my original post?:

http://www11.itrc.hp.com/service/rsb/rsbDisplay.do?fileName=patches_hpux/hpux11iv2_9000_integrity.htm

/* begin_quote */

Prior to updating from an earlier version of HP-UX 11i v2 or HP-UX 11i v1.6 (B.11.22) to HP-UX 11i v2 September 2004, you MUST first load the August 2004 version of BUNDLE11i.

/* endof_quote */

Thus, you need to first install the August 2004 bundle, then install the September 2004, and *then* get current with the December 2008 bundle.

Regards!

...JRF...

>JFR: you need to first install the August 2004 bundle, then install the September 2004, and *then* get current with the December 2008 bundle.

Something seems wrong here? If the Aug 2004 bundle was missing for months and months, how did anyone get current? Or they loaded the Aug 2004 bundle in 2004 and never had to worry?
I.e. You snooze, you lose?

Or were there 11.23 updates that bypassed this?
