    <description>hi nazmul,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;just to make the things clear....&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;1) after u loaded thetape into the drive manually just run the following coammnds to check that the media is present in the drive that u will use for the backup.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;say u load a tape in the drive.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;after that &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;#mt -t /dev/rmt/3mn rewind&lt;BR /&gt;#mt -t /dev/rmt/3mn status&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;if the status shows that the media is online, just try a simple tar Backup a small one and see what happens.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;#tar cvf /dev/rmt/3mn /tmp&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;ans see that ur tar backup is OK aor not atleast.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Regards&lt;BR /&gt;Sujit</description>

      <description>Whay have you started 2 seperate thereads for the same issue? One of these will probably get deleted by an admin.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Can you confirm that you definately entered&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;fbackup -f /dev/rmt/0m -i /backupfup &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;and that the command responded by complaining about /dev/rmt/3mn ?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;You haven't just eneterd a typo there??&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;fbackup doesn't support "no-rewind on close" tape devices, so you should never use /dev/rmt/3mn or /dev/rmt/0mn - you should use /dev/rmt/3m or /dev/rmt/0m (or whatever rewind-on-close tape device you have).&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Of course you can have more issues with rewind-on-close tape devices if the kernel parameter st_san_safe is set to 1.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;HTH&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Duncan</description>

      <description>Hello,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;u can see by doing again an&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;#ioscan -fnCtape&lt;BR /&gt;#insf&lt;BR /&gt;#insf -e&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;just again can u check that stape module though this driver is there in the system , can u still check one thing?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;#kcmodule | grep -i stape and post the O/P?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;u can see also by doing a rewind and see if tape loads and status.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;#mt -t /dev/rmt/3mn rewind&lt;BR /&gt;#mt -t /dev/rmt/3mn status&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;also what if u are trying to take a tar backup on the tape?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;#tar cvf /dev/rmt/3mn /tmp &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;what does this show???&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Regards&lt;BR /&gt;sujit&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>Also one thing , this seems to be an FC Tape ,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;can u also confirm that u have schgr properly driver installed in the system?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;#kcmodule | grep -i stape&lt;BR /&gt;#kcmodule | grep -i schgr&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If this is an 11.31 system try making the following cimmand, this shall install all the pass through drivers for all the HW reqd.&lt;BR /&gt;#mksf -p&lt;BR /&gt;the corresponding drivers shall be estape and eschgr in 11iv3&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Regards&lt;BR /&gt;Sujit</description>

      <description>Hi Nazmul,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;You r trying to take backup of data on Tape Library through "fbackup" command.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Now,&lt;BR /&gt;1).Have you inserted the media into the LTO, if yes how, because the media will be formatted and loaded by the auto loader.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;2). Are you using Data Protector in your enviorenment.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;3). What is the model of Tape Library.</description>

      <description>hi nazmul,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;just to make the things clear....&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;1) after u loaded thetape into the drive manually just run the following coammnds to check that the media is present in the drive that u will use for the backup.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;say u load a tape in the drive.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;after that &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;#mt -t /dev/rmt/3mn rewind&lt;BR /&gt;#mt -t /dev/rmt/3mn status&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;if the status shows that the media is online, just try a simple tar Backup a small one and see what happens.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;#tar cvf /dev/rmt/3mn /tmp&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;ans see that ur tar backup is OK aor not atleast.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Regards&lt;BR /&gt;Sujit</description>
