Hi,

I don't remember if UX 9.xx is year 2000 compatible ....
You could try a later version of UX (10.20, 11.0) or from the message 'Modification time of /usr/sam/lib/uucp/uu.LL exceeds internal shared memory time stamp.' - maybe it works if you change system time to ... 1970? 1900?

But maybe you'll have to install it from the beginning then ...

Only a idea
Volkmar
I have installed HP-UX 9.01 in HP 700i workstation. Both the install and updates were completed successfully.

But when iam trying to create user account thru SAM, its comes with the following error:

'Modification time of /usr/sam/lib/uucp/uu.LL exceeds internal shared memory time stamp.

SAM's Link layer interface to system commands needs to be re-initialized.'

Err msg recommends to issue the command 'ipcrm -m (pid)' and run sam again.

When i tried the ipcrm and run SAM again, the same error msg comes with some other pid.

I tried in single user mode too.

Please someone advise.

not sure why the error is happeneing. Does it also occur with other commands such as groupadd? and also non user administration tasks?

You could always add the users from the command line, its a lot quicker than loading sam once you are used to doing it.

Mark

The err msg comes up with all the sam menu items.

though i successfully created the user from "/usr/sam/bin/./addusr". I need to solve this as i cant use sam at all having this err.

Shalom,

At least use 9.07 the last 9.x release.

Best you can do is patch the system. That will not make it y2k compliant but it might solve this problem.

SEP

9.01 has been obsolete and unsupported for more than 10 years and it is definitely full of bugs related to Y2K. These bugs were never fixed so there are no patches or workarounds except to change the time to 1989, or something easy to remember (older than 1999). This is one of the many, many problems you will face using very old software.

Your 700-series workstation will run 10.20 which is also obsolete and not supported but is OK for Y2K when fully patched.
