    <description>When you get this error:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;# passwd -x 0 root&lt;BR /&gt;Option x not available using /sbin/passwd&lt;BR /&gt;Must invoke /bin/passwd to use option.&lt;BR /&gt;Usage: passwd name&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;It menas /sbin is in your path before /bin is.  &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Simply execute:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;/bin/passwd -x 0 root&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;and it'll work.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Doug O'Leary</description>

Or are you using privildge id to change the password agging for root account .?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;You need to be root user (or) privildge id to change password agging for root account.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;How can i use SAM.?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;step1 :- Login:- root (or) root equalate privildge id&lt;BR /&gt;step2 :- SAM&lt;BR /&gt;step3 :- Select Users&amp;amp;Groups --&amp;gt; User --&amp;gt;Find-&amp;gt;Sreach-&amp;gt;select the root account&lt;BR /&gt;than look for Modify Security policy.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Hope this helps&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Thx,&lt;BR /&gt;Johnson</description>

      <description>For changing password in single user mode&lt;BR /&gt;If your OS is HP-UX&lt;BR /&gt;From OS --&amp;gt;init 1&lt;BR /&gt;From BCH shell--&amp;gt;hpux -is&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If your OS is Linux &lt;BR /&gt;From OS ----&amp;gt;init 1&lt;BR /&gt;At the os booting time write linux1 at the end of kernel version &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If helps it , pls assign points&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Rgds&lt;BR /&gt;Taifur</description>
