I am getting the following email message on a J2240 which I recently installed HP-UX 11.

WARNING: POTENTIAL SYSTEM PROBLEM - For Series 700 Machines

System Diagnostics & Error Logging programs have NOT been
installed on your system. Without these tools installed,
information that could help prevent a system or peripheral failure
will be lost. In addition, if a failure occurs, HP will not have
the tools or data to diagnose the cause of the problem in a timely
manner. This MAY CAUSE INCREASED DOWNTIME and possible future
failures. HP strongly suggests that you load these tools, which
are provided on the Support Media included with your installation
or update software.

I have found Diagnostics on the HP-UX 11.0 Support Plus CD. But swinstall will not install it. I ran swreg -l depot /cdrom but it does not help. How should I go about installing Diagnostics?
You have to go one level deeper.
If you are using HP-UX Support Plus, the depot is not simple /cdrom is /cdrom/DIAGNOSTICS/B.11.00
There are some readme files as well.
For general patches, access /cdrom/XSWGR1100

mount the cd, start swinstall.
You will need the full path to where the DIAGS are on the CD.

Also, for 11.00, patch PHKL_18543 is required. I believe a total of 7 patches are required when the dependencies are worked out.

Installing DIAGS on 11.00 does not require a reboot but patch installation does.

Thanks everyone! I was using swinstall and then defining the source as /cdrom/DIAGNOSTICS. I'll try defining it further.
