Hi Napoly,

before upgrade this depends on your installation of Ignite whicg files shall you be taking backup.

however you can include these in the backups for more precaution.

1)file /var/opt/ignite/INDEX
2)the configration also

#instl_adm -d > /tmp/ignite.cfg

install the new version of Ignite

#instl_adm -f /tmp/ignite.cfg
#instl_adm -d

to see if the Configuration has come.

3)any custom configuration and or scripts that you might have configured.

in this case as you have said earlier that the archives had been kept at the directory /var/opt/ignite/recovery/archives.

are not you able to see the archives for the clients in there?

perhaps you might have put the archives in some other place?

Regards
Sujit

Upgrading will not touch your previous images.

on the ignite-gui ?
Yes, you should update the clients to the new version of ignite.

you can use this ignite script to make a depot with the new client ignite soft:

/opt/ignite/lbin/pkg_rec_depot

And once you have the depot,you can use a script similar to this one to update the clients:

#!/sbin/sh

IUXServer=YOURSERVER

/opt/ignite/lbin/check_version -s ${IUXServer}

if [ $? != 0 ]
then
swinstall -s ${IUXServer}:/var/opt/ignite/depots/recovery_cmds \
IUX-Recovery
fi

Hi,

Just a piece of information.
If you are upgading the Ignite Version, the update process does not disturb or change any files in the directories /var/opt/ignite and /etc/opt/ignite. However /opt/ignite can have changes.

And also It is always a good idea to keep the Ignite Server to the latest possible Ignite Version and also the most updated patch buindles, and follow the same version of the Ignite on the clients also.

Regards
Sujit
