It is somtimes hard to navigate in http://docs.hp.com.
To find this documentation, goto "Diagnostics and Monitoring Tools" first, then to "Online Diagnostics (STM).

You may want to read the FAQs there: http://docs.hp.com/en/diag/stm/stm_faq.htm

That should answer most of your questions.
