      <description>I've got a problem with a few itanium servers running 11.22 where i cant mount the cdrom,  &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Different cd's/dvd's have been tried including HPUX install dvd's.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Checked BDF and cdrom is not mounted.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Below is a few other things i've checked.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;disk      0  0/0/3/0.0.0.0  sdisk      CLAIMED     DEVICE       TEAC    DV-28E-C&lt;BR /&gt;                           /dev/dsk/c0t0d0   /dev/rdsk/c0t0d0&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;# / : # mount -F cdfs /dev/dsk/c0t0d0 /cdrom&lt;BR /&gt;/dev/dsk/c0t0d0: Device busy&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;# / : # fuser /dev/dsk/c0t0d0&lt;BR /&gt;/dev/dsk/c0t0d0:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;# / : # diskinfo -v /dev/dsk/c0t0d0&lt;BR /&gt;diskinfo: can't open /dev/dsk/c0t0d0: Device busy&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;# / : # ls -ltr&lt;BR /&gt;drwxrwxrwx   2 root       sys             96 Mar  9  2005 cdrom&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Created a new directory /cdrom1 and tried to mount that with no success&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Checked /etc/mnttab and no entries found&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;# /dev/dsk : # ls -ltr&lt;BR /&gt;total 0&lt;BR /&gt;brw-r-----   1 bin        sys         31 0x000000 Mar  9  2005 c0t0d0&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;mayday1: /dev/rdsk : # ls -ltr&lt;BR /&gt;total 0&lt;BR /&gt;crw-r-----   1 bin        sys        188 0x000000 Mar  9  2005 c0t0d0&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Tried psf_mount on the offchance.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;# /usr/sbin/pfs_mount -t rrip -o xlat=unix /dev/dsk/c0t0d0 /cdrom&lt;BR /&gt;pfs_mountd.rpc: Can't open /dev/dsk/c0t0d0: Device busy&lt;BR /&gt;/usr/sbin/pfs_mount: /dev/dsk/c0t0d0 on /cdrom: open failed: Device busy&lt;BR /&gt;/usr/sbin/pfs_mount: giving up on /cdrom&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Have seen this in the past on PA_RISC systems and it required a patch update, has anyone come across the same issue on itanium servers.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Or is it just something silly i'm missing :-)&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Cheers&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;George</description>

      <description>Shalom,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;There is no longer a need to use pfs_mount&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Try: ioscan -fnC disk&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Try using all the device names with diskinfo until you get an answer.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;SEP</description>

      <description>Allo SEP, i get a response using diskinfo on other disk devices, just the dvd drives that seem to be an issue.</description>

      <description>Hi,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I had a similar problem on an Itanium server, it was because my EMC powerpath was blocking me to use the device file. If you have EMC powerpath, please check. Else ignore this.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Good luck&lt;BR /&gt;Shahul</description>

      <description>Hi Shahul &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;It doesnt have emc powerpath, but will have a look to see if anything else could be blocking the device file. Allthough i'm not sure how to do this.</description>

      <description>I had a similar problem, and when I whent physicaly to the server the cdrom light was bleeping like mad and it wouldn't open, after I forced opened it, and closed it again, it mounted with no problems.</description>

      <description>This is an issue on more than on server and different dc/dvd's have been tried.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Will be awkward to get lsof installed due to the change process in place.</description>

      <description>Have tried recreating the device files for the dvd drive on one of the affected systems that has a confirmed ok dvd in the drive and still get the device busy error.</description>

      <description>i have the same problem with rx4640 servers hp-ux 11.23.  sometimes if i reboot and retry to mount it'll work but this server it's happening on now still displays 'mount: /dev/dsk/c0t0d0 on /media/dvdrom : Device busy'</description>
