I found process cmcd in Itanium servers.
What is the process cmcd?
How does it work?
Why it consume much cpu sometimes?

I think you are talking about cmcld ?

If its cmcld then its a serviceguard cluster daemon
for more information please refer any sg cluster book or go through below link.

It is not cmcld.
It is cmcd, its parent process is swapper.

not cmcld it is cluster daemon,
but cmcd is the one of the process running under root related to virtual memory

I have not seen this process much.
Use #ps -fp to know more about the process.

It's for: Processor CMC and Corrected Platform Event info
