try this:
insf -e

OR for just tape:

insf -eC tape

If you want to install the stape kernel module, run:

# kctune stape=best

Hi,

You need to enable stape driver in kernel.

Goto SAM->Kernel configurations->Drivers->select stape -> Goto actions ->Add drivers to kernel and rebuilt the kernel

After reboot run insf -e

Shalom,

stape is not a tunable parameter.

It is a driver.

Here is hopefully some help with this OS which is a little different than previous versions of HP-UX

As I do my research real time, I see that stape has been superseded with something new.

Maybe superseded... I've done a fair share of 11.31 systems but now that I'm thinking about it none with a tape drive yet.

I'd like to learn from this, please post your solution.

Hi expert,

When i'm getting NO H/W then i have removed the device file rmsf -H .

Tried ioscan -fnC tape but noting is coming and then rebooted the server after that tape drive has detected with different divice file name.

my query is, there are any posibility to detect tape without rebooting and what happened after rebooting it's detecting?

identify ur tape reeboot the server then
#insf -e

it will create the device file.
then check the status from
#mt -t /dev/rmt/0m

There is no SAM in 11.31, only smh.

As long as there is no driver, insf won't help.

Do

# kcmodule stape=static
