NFS error

Hi All,
I have faced a scenario which is strange. I have exported /sapmnt mount point from my nfs server with options of -root=host1:host2--

the /sapmnt directory has 777 permission.

I have mounted the same on all my nfs clients.

And tried to change the permission of /sapmnt to 755 from host1

i got the error "not the owner".

But the same is working with host2.

Then i checked two hosts and find a difference in their gateways.

Then i changed the gateway of host1 and it continue to work the permission.

May i have some good comments on this scenario.

Are these host1 & host2 strings in -root=, FQDNs?

Hi,

try to mount it under user that SAP is running,

ll /sapmnt ( there should be name of SAP instance+prefix )

example : SAPsid = EA1

/sapmnt ... ea1adm:sapsys

on the host1 ... make as root : su - eaiadm

and them mount the exported FS.

example : /etc/exports

/export/sapmnt/SAPsid -access=hosts1:host2:hostxxx

The Hosts are eux154 euxs51

i changed the gate way and it is working .But why it is so?

To your last question.

I would say based on all the data it is the
DNS structure of your corporate LAN.

Take a look at /etc/nsswitch.conf see if files name resolution takes precedence over DNS.

This is a good idea and lets the Unix server do what it does better than windoze.

Could also be a conflict between the two host files on host1 and host2. They probably should be consistent. You may not in either event be connecting to the server you think you are connecting to.
